The primary objective of this book is to examine basketball movements from the game’s top performers in competition. To the author’s knowledge, this is a novel concept in that no book has ever used match-play to investigate the mechanical demands imposed on athletes in the sporting activity of basketball. Hopefully, after this book the reader will be equipped with the knowledge to create models for movement expressions around tactical situations in basketball. This information can be extremely useful for multiple parties involved in the development of basketball athletes. The first objective of the book will be a brief overview of biomechanical principles and how this pertains to basketball. The second objective of the book will dissect specific game situations and examine common denominators among the game’s best movers. The ultimate goal of this is to bridge the gap between athletes and coaches for the overall improvement of our sport.
